What’s Cool this week in Travel?: "
Every so often we like to share a few of our favourite travel sites from around the Internet. We haven’t done this in a while, but lately we have been finding some fabulous posts, from informative, to funny, thought provoking to recaps. We have an entire google reader filled with our favourite blogs and websites that we have the pleasure of reading every week.
-
Here are some of our favourite recent articles from the travel world.
RickyAstridaHerman- A few weeks ago we wrote a post about Canadian Stereotypes and Misconceptions. We wanted to turn it into a guest post series and have people send in their posts about stereotypes and misconceptions about their own countries. Well, life became busy and we didn’t pursue the idea, but we were excited to find Ricky’s blog where he wrote his own post about stereotypes about Indonesians. I love these type of posts, we can all learn a lot from them and Ricky shattered the myths about Indonesians and his country.
NoDebtWorldTravel - Speaking of video. If you are interested in making your own travel video or documentary, Brian interviews John from TripOnDeal.com and I totally agree with his points. He discusses the importance of audio and talks about how you make your video more professional and what gear to use. The most important thing about your video is the audio and many travel videos really drop the bomb in the audio department. Believe me nobody will watch your videos if the audio is terrible. But people will forgive video quality. It’s true! A very wise cameraman told us that once.
EasyHiker - Do you love to hike? This is the blog for you, our good friend Michael writes about his love for hiking but also accepts guest posts from hikers around the world. This post comes from a great lady and another friend of ours, Leigh McAdam who we cycled through Africa with. Her post isn’t about Africa, but her love affair with hiking in Arches National Park Utah.
GoSeeWrite - Stumbleupon can be confusing. Most travel bloggers we talk to can’t figure it out and stop using it. But when you do know what you are doing, it can be an excellent tool to drive traffic to your website. Michael Hodson gives some excellent tips on how to use StumbleUpon effectively and the comments section is filled with even more great information.
JohnnyVagabond - I love round up posts. Johnny is 7 months into his round the world trip. He spent longer in South East Asia than he expected, he’s going with the flow, he bought some new camera equipment, his blog is growing and he is on his way to India!
WanderingEarl - Earl writes a beautiful post about life coming together and molding into a perfect moment in his article Welcome to Syria my Friend. We have heard nothing but wonderful things about Syria and his posts reiterates the fact that we must go there one day soon!
ToddsWanderings - We posed this question to our readers when we were in India and it is a debate that never stops between travellers. The article is thought provoking and the discussion in the comments is engaging. Check it out and weigh in on the conversation; Should you give money to Beggars when travelling?
MidlifeRoadTrip - The Bucket List. A fun trailer for Midlife Road Trip, the perfect therapy for the midlife crisis. I just love watching the videos from this website.
