Shifting its focus of promoting Taiwan as a tourist destination in Mumbai and Delhi, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau is now planning to expand its promotional activities to other major cities in India. This information was divulged by Shilpa Sethi, Executive Director, Buzz Travel Marketing, representation of Taiwan Tourist Bureau in the country, at a press conference organised recently in the capital showcasing various tourist attractions, culture, food, shopping etc. of Taiwan.
Revealing the marketing plans, Sethi informed that the Bureau will mainly focus on increasing its promotional activities through media, public relations and will also work closely with the Indian travel trade. As the Bureau finds India a potential source market, it is looking at targeting all kinds of travellers such as business, MICE, leisure, family, honeymooners, tour and incentive groups etc.
In her presentation, she also reminded that Taiwan offers large conference facilities and post – conference tour options which is a mix of sightseeing tours of Taiwan’s cultural and heritage sites, nightlife, shopping, entertainment and other tourist attractions. Taiwan received 20,579 visitors from India from January to October 2010, as compared to 15,342 tourist arrivals from India last year for the same period.
She also mentioned that Taiwan provides Visa-free policy that permits travellers holding Visas or citizenships to countries like Japan, USA, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and Australia, to enter Taiwan without a separate Visa. Availing this facility, a tourist can gain multiple entries into Taiwan for a period of one month from the time he/she registers online with the Taiwan immigration office. On registration, the applicant receives an ‘Entry Permit’ that facilitates his travel with any airline. This policy has been valid since March 2009.
