Culture Shock in Taipei, How Starbucks Saved My Sanity – A Little Adrift

We’ve all been there. Even a seasoned traveler like Shannon from A Little Adrift can suffer from culture shock every once in a while. When Shannon had a 15 hour layover in Taipei, she didn’t have a plan, a map or even an idea as to what the currency conversion was. Being on the road for nearly two years, she thought she could handle landing in a foreign land where nobody spoke English. She thought she could just wing it, but in Taipei, it is impossible to read a simple menu or street sign, let alone find someone that can translate for you. Thankfully Starbucks came to the rescue and gave her the familiarity and comfort that she needed to properly figure out what she would do with the next 15 hours of her time.

We would all do things different with our projects if we had the chance to do it over again, but Chris reminds us that it is never too late. I too wish that we started our facebook fanpage earlier and focused more on building email subscriptions. We were slow on the uptake of both of these and have fallen behind most blogs in our niche. But as Chris said, it is never too late to start!
