The Art of Travel Photography & Travel Photography as Art

The Art of Travel Photography & Travel Photography as Art: "

Women Carrying Haystacks, in Rural India. I have just installed a great little newsletter subscription option (See the Connect with me panel at the bottom of the web page) for Newsletter and later blogs.

As you’ve probably guessed the main topics I will talk about here in my blogs are travel and photography and everything in between. That includes my travel philosophy , techniques, plans, gear I use and how I use it.

I have traveled to some amazing places and seen some incredible things. Now my hope is that through my images I can share some of that magic and wonder.

I think moving through the world and meeting people from diverse cultures you get a different perspective on things, a different way of seeing how we all live on this planet.

Another great thing about travel is that as a photographer you are continually finding new and exciting subject matter.

The challenge for me as a photographer is to capture an interpretation that illustrates the essence of things as I see and experience them.

No matter how many times I visit a place, I always feel there are opportunities for a new way of seeing things and new images to capture.

Part of the art of travel photography, is like the philosophy espoused in the book “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”. For those who have not read the book, it can be summarized as being self sufficient and organized, but also prepared to go with the flow when things don’t go quite according to plan. In other words to find a find a balance between the purely rational and the romance of living in moment.
